Freight industry not robust, but OK, says trucking chief

Pat Quinn of U.S. Xpress
CHATTANOOGA, TN -- A "state of the industry" speech given by Pat Quinn, co-chairman and president of U.S. Xpress and a past chairman of the American Trucking Associations, projected flat growth in the industry because of increasing costs and regulations.

“I wouldn’t call the freight industry ‘robust’ today, I would call it OK,” he said, quoted in a Chattanooga Times Free Press article. He spoke to a group of trucking school executives at the U.S. Xpress headquarters.

He also said that U.S. Xpress plans to purchase 2000 new trucks next year, but they will be replacements for aging fleet models.
