NYC Teamsters chief to challenge Hoffa

NEW YORK -- Sandy Pope announced Monday she will challenge the most prominent name in labor, James P. Hoffa, for the Teamster's presidency next October.

Pope is the president of  1,200 member Teamsters Local 805 in New York City and a former truck driver. James P. Hoffa, son of the notorious "Jimmy" Hoffa, has headed the 1.3 million member International Brotherhood of Teamsters since 1999. A third contender is Fred Gegare, a Teamsters leader in Wisconsin.
