Muslim driver canned by Schneider for refusing to haul beer

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- A Muslim man has sued Schneider National Inc., alleging he was fired after he refused to transport a shipment of alcohol.

Vasant Reddy claims it's against his religious beliefs to "consume, possess or transport alcohol or tobacco,"  and that he was told his beliefs would be accommodated by the trucking company when he was hired in May 2009.

After a month on the job, he complained when he was assigned a shipment of Miller Lite. He was told that his refusal to haul the shipment was an "operational violation" and was ask to resign or be fired.
