Hoover Dam Bypass to open this month, commercial traffic in November

BOULDER CITY, NV--Route 93 over Hoover Dam, closed to commercial truck traffic since 9/11, reopens soon as construction of the bypass nears completion with final paving beginning  today. Hoover Dam itself celebrated its official 75th anniversary September 30. Four wheel traffic will begin to use the bypass on October 16, with 18-wheelers allowed in early November.

Four-lane traffic on 93 will flow from I-40 at Kingman all the way to Las Vegas with some city traffic to contend with in Boulder City. Commercial drivers have had to reroute through Laughlin en route to Las Vegas for nearly a decade.

A message board writer reports there is no fuel available for commercial drivers between Kingman and Las Vegas.
