Average diesel price hits $3 gallon mark

WASHINGTON, DC--The U.S. Department of Energy report released Monday shows the average nationwide price for diesel fuel reached the $3.00 per gallon mark, the highest since last May's spike of $3.12 per gallon., abruptly ending a one week drop. Current prices are up over $.40 per gallon from a year ago.

Highest prices are on the West Coast, with the lowest in the Gulf Coast regions.
