Class 8 truck sales up over last year

NASHVILLE, IN--Freight Transport Research Associates has released preliminary data showing September Class 8 truck orders up 21.6% over the previous month and 38.8% better than September 2009. The figures include U.S., Canada, Mexico and exports markets.

“Net orders for September came in about where we expected," stated Eric Starks, President of FTR. "and while better than August, aren't indicative of any significant shift in fleet buying plans that would result in strong growth next year."

According to Gerson Lehrman Group, the costs for 2010 trucks are up $7,000-$10,000 per truck.
