JB Hunt CEO Thompson stepping down

LOWELL, AR -- J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced on Thursday that longtime CEO Kirk Thompson will step down at the end of this year. John N. Roberts III, the company's president of dedicated contract services, was named director effective immediately. Thompson takes over as chairman of the board Jan. 1.

According to a company statement, Thompson oversaw the company’s growth from $286 million in 1987 to a projected $3.8 billion in 2010.
