Field test drivers like SafeTraK system

PONTIAC, MI -- Results of a year-long field test of Takata Corporation's SafeTraK Lane Departure system, in conjunction with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, elicited positive driver feedback.

Thirty-eight percent of drivers said the warning systems prevented them from potentially having a crash and eighty-three percent of drivers would prefer driving a truck equipped with the systems and would recommend them to their carriers.

According to a Takata spokesman, "The SafeTraK system helps drivers maintain their lanes, know when to stop for rest breaks, and measure their on-road driving performance real time."

Kenworth Truck Co. already offers SafeTraK as an option on the T700.
