Diesel costs positions Thermo King for green growth

BLOOMINGTON, MN -- The king of refrigeration in transportation saw a sales jump of 20% over last year. Driving that growth is the demand by trucking companies looking to replace diesel-powered cab and reefer systems with rechargeable battery units.

Company officials also expect global warming to continue pushing commercial and mass transit vehicles toward greener and more energy-efficient systems and away from diesel fuel.

Thermo King also makes ventilation systems for mass-transit buses and light rail cars.
