FT. WAYNE, IN -- A Journal-Gazette article out this morning outlines the progress of the exodus from Navistar's Ft. Wayne's design and technology facility to the new HQ in Lisle, IL.
"A 'large majority' of Navistar International Corp. workers who are transferring from Fort Wayne to the truck maker's Chicago-area operation will make the move in July or August, a spokesman said Tuesday."
The AP also reported that 200 to 300 contract workers in Ft. Wayne will be pink-slipped this week with their duties being transferred to regular employees.
The truck assembly plant at Ft. Wayne of Navistar's predecessor, International Harverster, closed down in 1983, and once employed over 10,000.
