Con-way Truckload said Wednesday that it will pay $2,000 of the $5,995 tuition bill for driver trainees who agree to hire on with the Joplin, Mo.-based trucking firm, which said it hopes to hire about 500 drivers in the coming 12 months.
'We're hoping to put people into the transportation industry that are out of work right now, that may have considered a career in transportation but could not afford it,' said Joseph LaBarge, president and owner of the U.S. Truck Driver Training School."
