WASHINGTON, DC -- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety wants federal regulators to require guards on large trucks to prevent small cars from sliding underneath trailers.
The group petitioned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration yesterday to prevent trailers from breaking away, and to mandate guards to prevent or cars from sliding under trailers in a crash.
