HARTLAND, ME -- A veteran driver of 25 years and trucking company owner and his machinist friend have invented a mirror wiper system which is undergoing tests in the harsh environment of a Maine winter.
Gerard Dubois and Ray Lawrence are the co-founders of North East Wipers whose motto is “If they’ll work here, they’ll work anywhere.”
The new wipers, attached by brackets and powered by a rig's compressed air system, have been installed on Dubois' Peterbilt for six months. The Maine DOT is receptive to the idea and has installed a system on one of their International tractors.
The two entrepreneurs are seeking large fleets to try-out their invention. System installation costs less than $500 per truck.
