Schneider's Lofgren warns CSA 2010 will reduce driver pool 10 percent

FT. LAURDERDALE, FL -- The Department of Transportation's CSA 2010 initiative could cull 10 percent of the driver pool, warns Christopher B. Lofgren, president and CEO of Schneider National.

Lofgren spoke about reduced capacity on the nation's highways at a conference here Monday, as reported in a Journal of Commerce article.

"It's not a matter of buying new trucks, it's finding new drivers," he said.

Consequences of a driver shortage will push truck rates up and cause freight to shift to other modes.
