New trucks in Caterpillar-Navistar partnership debut down under

ULURU, NORTHERN TERRITORY -- A joint venture in Australia by Caterpillar and Navistar has resulted in the first ever on-highway Caterpillar semi tractors. The new products -- the Cat(R) CT610 and Cat(R) CT630 -- are being assembled in Tullamarine, Victoria and will be sold through a newly formed Australian network composed of select Cat(R) dealers.

"For the first time ever, the power of the Cat(R) brand is being delivered in on-highway vehicles," said George Taylor, General Manager of Caterpillar's Global On-Highway Division.

The trucks have been engineered specifically for the harsh conditions of Australia and for fuel efficiency. The Cat(R) CT610 is powered by the 470-hp Cat(R) C13 engine. The Cat(R) CT630 is powered by the 550-hp Cat(R) C15 engine.

The two new trucks are available with day-cab or extended-cab options.
