MEXICO CITY -- The head of Mexico's national chamber on trucking and transportation (Canacar), Juan Carlos Muñoz, reported yesterday that from 2008 to present, roadside theft from trucks has increased 50 percent throughout the country.
Muñoz explained that the roads in the State of Mexico, Puebla and Veracruz are called by truckers the "Bermuda Triangle" because of the danger posed driving through them.
Given the increases in transport robberies, he said that the costs of transportation security have increased from 6 to 12 percent.
