Additional data debuts on drivers' crash and inspection record amid dwindling jobs

WASHINGTON, DC--Beginning today, The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration launches its Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA 2010) to track drivers’ crash data and inspection violations. The additional scrutiny  may shrink an already battered job pool for drivers desperate for work. Likewise, drivers' safety data becomes part of commercial carriers' permanent record.

Intended to remove unsafe drivers from behind the wheel, with carriers having more access to driver data during screening, the program tracks minor violations in a point system which may have the effect of excluding good drivers from desperately needed jobs.
