NJ community college aims to steer truckers to local jobs

VINELAND, NJ -- Demand for truck drivers is at a constant high, yet entry-level workers often cross state lines to find a job. But Cumberland County College is looking to change that.

Since 1997, the college's Commercial Driving School, which runs in a partnership with Bradway Trucking Inc., trains people to be truck drivers, but often sees those graduates join the work force with out-of-state companies as local companies are more restrictive on who they hire.
